I celebrated my birthday in Toronto this year and it was great to spend time with family and friends.

Another year older, couldn’t say I feel wiser, but this 10 yr membership into my 30s is going to be interesting.

Finally had some time to update my website with a few more links and pictures here and there. I still feel the same and although I bump into many who look at my accomplishments with a pat on the back, I just tell them that I still know where I came from.

Will be spending a few more weeks in Toronto and head back for a couple events in June in KL. Last night was a cool 3 degrees C in mid-May. The weather here is psycho. I can’t wait to eat all the amazing food I’ve missed for the past few months. I’ve got a commercial coming out soon, so I’m excited to see how that turned out!

I know, I know, most people think that cellulite only exists on “fat” people and skinny people don’t get it. Well it’s not true and a lot of it is also genetics. I’ve seen cellulite on skinny models and that tells me cellulite spares no one!

I was approached by the good people at Clarins and they wanted me to try the product before giving my testimonial about it and I was absolutely in love with the product and the consistency of use. Let’s face it, there are no shortcuts in life and when it is all about trying to look good and feel good, it takes effort.

Aside from just using the product, studies show that there are many ways to reduce it and I think of it as a lifestyle regime which works well with my schedule:

1. Diet:

They say healthy bodies aren’t made in the gym, they’re made in the kitchen. I think that is very true. Stick to healthy foods that are less processed and foods that are more alkaline based (most fruits and veggies) to give your body the right nutrients to fight cellulite.

2. Exercise:

Ever wonder why most ballerinas or athletes don’t have cellulite? It’s because they are always working out their bodies and are less likely to collect fat deposits which can eventually develop into cellulite. Run, jog, walk, anything that will keep your blood pumping and help you break a sweat.

3. Clarins Body Lift Cellulite Control

Every morning before and after bed, I apply this cream on my legs, butt and abs. Using their application method, I try to be consistent about it. My legs feel much firmer and with their exfoliating cream, they are much smoother too. I noticed a difference in just a few days and its nice to know that as I am moisturizing my legs, the lotion-cream is working hard to reduce my cellulite and prevent cellulose-formation.

Plus I’m hitting the big 3-0 and my body doesn’t work the way it used to. If I don’t take care of myself now, I don’t want to regret later on. An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure!

I wore her backless column dress and wore my hair up in a high bun. Recently I’ve been fancying this look because hair tied up is much more comfortable when it can get extremely hot at fashion show parties and etc. Plus the little details in the back would be missing underneath my mane!

Had a chance to sit beside Mizz Nina who’s going to be on tour with Jay Park! So proud of her and all her success, this girl is on fire! Plus I hadn’t caught up with Sazzy Falak in ages since she gave birth to her twins. We call ourselves the French flag sitting at the front row.

Here are a few of the dresses I managed to take shots of while the models were zipping away so quickly. I totally loved Alia’s collection. It has been so long since I’ve talked about fashion or collections and that used to be such a big part of me while I was in university. But what I will say is that this collection has a strong sense of femininity and sexuality. I think sometimes it can be hard to balance the two but she has done it incredibly well with good choices of fabric and lace. The dresses were all so effortless and it felt like we were placed in a garden 1930s-40s wedding party.

I worked with stylist Sarah Saw and photographer Kah Mun from Myth on this shoot and this duo is always incredibly creative. They know what shots they’re looking for and their execution is always spot on. I had a blast!

Make-up artist Gavin Koh made my skin look flawless and dewy with a strong glittery lid. Ahhh loved the make up too!

One of the good things about shooting luxury is the beautiful timepieces and jewelry that I get to wear. Fell in love with Cartier, Hublot, TSL and everything inbetween!

Not that it has been completely eye-opening, but you can feel a sense of urgency to change the state of our country. So I started thinking about change. I fear it. It is always looming around and I can never escape it. I usually write about my work or post up pseudo-sexy photos of myself and tell people how awesome or cool everything is but I thought I’d try something a little different this time. (Please forgive me if my grammar and spelling may fail me in this lengthy post, I rarely write more than 5 sentences nowadays.)

Change.

“OMG, I’m turning 30 and my eggs are starting to rot. Who will want to date a girl with rotting eggs?”

I don’t lie about my age–although I’m thinking of it once this year pasts me by. I’m freaking out. I have anxiety. I’m asking my friends who are turning 30 and everyone seems to be handling it a little better than I am. Truth is that I’m the person that jumps at opportunities. I’m a dream chaser. I like succeeding. I like putting myself through a test and then telling myself I passed. I have started my life at least 3-4 times and I’ve created a career for myself that spans across North America and Asia. There are many good things about my life and yet hitting the big 3-0 scares the shit out me.

I don’t know if I’m supposed to start looking for a husband now. I don’t know if I’m supposed to own a house, or two. I still can’t seem to figure out where I want to live. Have I achieved all that I have? Do I have enough time to do it? Why can’t I stay 20 forever?????

Change is inevitable. I could go about this in 2 ways:

1. Just keep lying to people. Live in denial and pretend that no one else notices that I’m lying.

or

2. Embrace it. Spend a couple more hours in the gym (or 45 minutes at Bodytone ) buy a shit load of beauty products, learn make-up tricks and compete with people 10 years younger and bring more life experience at each step of the way. Just fucking learn to adapt.

The second way is better right? I mean who are we kidding here? Anyone can read my Wiki to realize how old I am, or research my past articles and crunch numbers to know I was born in the year when Billie Jean was topping the charts. The more you lie about what you’ve done and your past, the less weight your words will carry. Which is sad because I believe that one’s word should be impeccable.

So let’s move on to politics.

DISCLAIMER: I’m not a politician. I was born in Malaysia but I grew up in Canada. I can’t even sing Negaraku properly without pretending to mouth the words with everyone else. It’s embarrassing, I know. So I’m not versed in history or in BM. But I think I am still allowed to draw an opinion about the country I still hold a passport to.

I think this whole election is pretty crazy, but change is inevitable. We’ve got social media. We have history books. We have personal accounts. We’ve got evidence. We’ve got a lot of facts. There’s a lot of money unaccounted for. The only party we can really hold accountable is the government. So if they can’t explain what they’ve done with it, then they should be at fault and the rakyat should vote them out and find someone new to represent them. That’s what happens in a democratic system.

Public service is admirable. You serve the people and you try to do what’s best for them. So we’ve got Barisan National (BN) and Patakan Rakyat (PKR), those are our two options. The incumbent and the opposition. Well just as any election period, the smear campaigns are out in full force. I’m starting to see them in the videos, the rallies, the t-shirts, the tweets, the facebook posts, the facebook groups and etc.

From an outsider, BN is offering laptops, sacks of rice, “I help you, you help me”, Gong Xi Fa Cai – Vote for me angpows and a PSY concert. If you ask me, that’s a clear sign of denial. So I think just like me, BN could go about it in 2 ways:

1. Live in denial.

OR

2. Adapt.

Who knows what will happen. Maybe BN will fight a better battle when it all unfolds but I see more wrongs than rights at the moment and no one can actually tell me about projects without some minister enjoying a little kickback. It’s sad. But competition is good and it forces people to have a dialogue about the current state of our country. Malaysia is a wonderful country and we have incredible people here, it would be a shame that time after time, the government fails to look after their people but instead looks after themselves. They’ve had quite a few years to show what they can do but actions speak louder than words.

But on the flip side, I don’t know what the opposition can do either. They talk about changes they want to implement but do they have the experience? Will they become like their predecessors and enjoy their own kickbacks too? Everyone’s always out there to sell their side, but with a democratic system you get to decide for yourself.

I think about Obama’s Background Check “Common Sense” Bill for Gun Laws not being passed earlier this week. They failed to impede progress on the big issue of gun violence in America. No political system is perfect but those who hold office and represent the people should speak for the people and not look after their own seats (maybe I have a bit of Obama’s rhetoric here). You are the elected voice to speak on their behalf. But most of the time people who hold power, refuse to let go, even if they are no longer effective. Why? Because I’m sure they fear change as much as I do.

Just like I’m trying to compete with the next lot of talented women in the entertainment scene, these politicians have to compete with others who feel like they could do a better job. Either way, you need to prove it.  

But the truth of the matter is that change is inevitable.

There’ll always be change, it’s the only thing that is constant.

I didn’t have a cheat day, I didn’t stop at a cheat week, I carried on and had cheat month. So now I have to pay for it.

So I found a fantastic quote from a trainer and I found this so apt!

Live by choice, not by chance, to make changes, not excuses, to be motivated, not manipulated, to be useful, not used. Choose self esteem, not pity. Choose to listen to your inner voice, not the random opinion of other. Sometimes we get lost of who we are are because of other people in our lives. It can happen so fast sometimes you don’t even know where the slide all began. You compromise yourself and do things that are not genuine or a reflection of the real you. You’ll be confused because you won’t know whom to please, or how and will hurt your self esteem. Be who you are! Have the courage to accept yourself as you really are, not as as someone else thinks you should be. Do not take action or pretend to be someone else for the sake of gaining acceptance.

I think pertains not just to exercise but to life. Time to take your pride in yourself and aim high!

Nothing as delicious as Chicken and Waffles!! Mmmmm and the cornbread was mighty delicious too! I’m so glad that I waited in line for a table. So worth it!

 
Had to do a little work so I’m here at my director’s studio in Santa Monica with my sweethearts!! Our mini-reunion!

Sarah and I took a little trip to Venice Beach so I’d feel better about being a tourist. It was crazy windy that day but we managed to snap a great shot anyway!

So many people asked me how my trip to LA was, and it was fantastic! I think it has been great to make some good connections, do a little work and enjoy the beautiful weather out there while Toronto was still getting over her winter spells.

I had a chance to catch up with some of my old friends and get a feel for the pulse of the city. Also, I had an amazing host who showed me the ropes and gave me some insight on an actor’s life in Hollywood. If there’s anything I’ve taken away from this, would be juice cleanses and kale salads!! Gotta love it!!

Next post is gonna be about how I had to lose 10lbs from all my crazy eating!!

I worked with a great cast and crew, by the end of it we were making jokes and feeling like one big family. It wasn’t the greatest conditions but I’m glad that I roughed it out, sleeping in the same fleece clothes under millions of blankets just to stay warm – it was all part of the experience!

We shot at an abandoned military camp in Men Tou Gao with incredible vistas which added to the beauty of the project. I managed to snap a few pics, take a look!

We had someone create great posters and this was one of my favs!

A shot with the director Qiao Li, Aussie-Chinese who was fantastic to work with. This film was entirely his vision and it was incredible to live in this universe.

Here’s a pic of me on the Runyon trail sneaking a pic with the Hollywood sign. Never thought I’d make my way to LA but everything is a lot closer than they appear. This city has been great to me and my host Sarah has been making it such a tease to just move here. But I haven’t really been home-home since October so I think I’m gonna put a bit more time back in Toronto before I make any more sudden changes.

I’m forging my own path. I’m making my own way and I could’nt be happier!
